North Shore (Algoma East)

In the Jurisdiction of MOCHA Shriners

2015 President  Noble Bill Baker

Encompassing the area from Massey to the east, as far as Thessalon to the west (basically all along the North Shore), including the communities of Iron Bridge, Blind River, Elliot Lake and Spanish.

The Huron Shrine Club was constituted on September 27, 1985 and shortly after a group of Nobles held their inaugural dinner meeting at the Duck Inn.

Huron Shrine Club general meetings are held on the 2nd Saturday of each month except July and August at 12:00 (noon) in the Masonic Hall. The Executive Meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month at 2:00 p.m.  The General Meetings are held at the Masonic Lodge in Elliot Lake but as we are a large geographic club meetings have been and may be may be held in other cities as well.  Please contact Club secretary (Noble Bob Prout  705-848-9363) to confirm location if you are unsure.

Very soon after forming we realized that we would be limited in our ability to raise funds and participate in events if we did not increase our numbers. It was suggested that every meeting be a dinner meeting and that we invite our spouses to join us. This would automatically double our manpower and enable us to be more active in our respective communities.  It was a resounding success and to this day we meet in the same fashion.  We are very proud of this and very fortunate to have the support and guidance from our ladies to assist with the various tasks. Huron Shrine Club is unique in that our Ladies are important non-voting attendees at our meetings and functions.  Huron Shrine Club has been referred to as The Little Club with the Big Heart.

Our membership is small, but we are mighty. All strive to fulfill their duties to the Craft and to Shrinedom, and it is to this end that The Huron Shrine Club continues to work exceedingly hard.

Yearly, during the month of September the Potentate and his Divan visit our club and we are very proud to be able to present him with a donation to help support all the Shrine's endeavors.

As we move forward we are thankful for the things we have accomplished and are excited and enthused at the things that are to come.
